Jeffrey earned his J.D. from UCLA School of Law in 1991. Since then, Jeffrey has represented hospitality companies of all types and sizes, from international airlines to multi-unit restaurant concepts to family-owned groceries to catering companies.

His legal experience is as diverse as his client base. Jeffrey has formed LLC's and drafted operating agreements; negotiated asset sales and acquisitions; drafted executive employment contracts; negotiated commercial leases; and made countless appearances on behalf of clients before state and federal courts, private arbitrators and mediators, and state agencies and commissioners.

Prior to forming Sloan, Jeffrey was an equity partner in the San Francisco office a large, national law firm and the co-founder and Managing Partner of Sloan Pratt LLP. In both roles, Jeffrey served as General Counsel to various companies, high-level executives, and entrepreneurs, advising on legal issues and business strategies. In 2003, Jeffrey resigned from his firm to devote his attention to the hospitality industry. He graduated from Cornell University's School of Hotel Administration in 2006 with a graduate business degree in Hospitality Operations Management.

In addition to his industry involvement on the legal side, Jeffrey is also personally involved on the owner-operator side. In 2007, Jeffrey co-founded and launched Punk's Backyard Grill^®, a fast-casual restaurant concept with its flagship location in Annapolis, MD. Jeffrey is also co-founder of and principal consultant with Consequince, a hospitality consulting firm.
